Underneath its modified Ford Mustang body, the Mustardo is equipped with the Gallardo’s mid-engined all-wheel drive powertrain meaning that this creation gets a 520 HP V10 engine and sequential shifting transmission!

The rear end of the car has been designed to imitate the Gallardo and it features a huge honeycomb mesh venting which allows us to get a peek of the Mustardo’s hardware. Amazingly, Haugh also completely redecorated the interior to look like the Gallardo’s cabin.

According to the guys at ‘The Mustang News’, Haugh plans to drive the Mustardo regularly.

One of the original 1967 Mustang Shelby GT500 Eleanor that starred in the 2000 action hit movie “Gone in 60 Seconds” starring Nicolas Cage is up for sale on eBay. According to the current owner of the Eleanor, the producers of the film used a total of 11 Mustang GT500s. Of those 8 were shell cars and only 3 were actual running and driving examples and this is one of them. The current bid for the car (Friday June 26) is $45,000 but there’s still a week left on the listing.

Ford Mustang, the country’s best-selling sports car for 22 consecutive years and one of the auto industry’s most successful nameplates ever, celebrates its 45th anniversary with a new panoramic glass roof option that opens the world to pony-car enthusiasts from Maine to Maui and all points between. The segment first, factory-installed glass roof is available as a $1,995 option on Mustang V-6 and GT models.

“Our new panoramic glass roof will allow owners to enjoy the outdoors year-round from the comfort of their Mustang,” said Derrick Kuzak, group vice president for Global Product Development. “It’s one more feature that sets Mustang apart from the competition.”

Three Roof Choices – Top That!

The glass roof joins the coupe and convertible to give Mustang customers three roof choices. It also addresses the fact that 62 percent of buyers in the sports car segment are interested in a sunroof or moonroof on their next vehicle, according to J.D. Power and Associates research. Mustang’s new roof allows customers to let the sun shine in for half the price of moving up from a coupe to a convertible.

While allowing occupants an unrestricted view of the world above and around them, the special tinted, reflective glass reduces energy used by the vehicle’s air conditioning system by 20 percent and also protects the interior fabric from fading and deteriorating. A manually operated roller blind allows owners to block the light on bright days.

Noise, vibration and harshness are controlled in the cabin with a layer of sound absorbent vinyl sandwiched within the special glass.

The glass-roof Mustang is built like the coupe and has been developed to maintain the structural integrity of the car.

“We want to offer this feature to customers while maintaining the quality and safety of the vehicle that we’ve been recognized externally for,” said Paul Randle, Mustang chief engineer.

More Standard Equipment

For 2009, Ford has also added more standard equipment to the popular “Premium” arrays offered on both the Mustang V-6 and GT, including SIRIUS® Satellite Radio, ambient lighting, satin aluminum instrument panel trim and upgraded interior trim.

A new, optional GT Security Package includes an active anti-theft system and wheel locking kit and Brilliant Silver clearcoat metallic joins the list of available Mustang exterior colors.

The Mustang V-6 coupe and convertible are equipped with a 210-horsepower, 4.0-liter SOHC 6-cylinder engine that is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed automatic. The Mustang GT coupe and convertible are powered by a 300-horsepower, 4.6-liter 3V V-8 engine. The standard gearbox is 5-speed manual, with an available 5-speed automatic.
Other highlights include:

• Standard front-seat side air bags; dual-stage driver and front passenger air bags; safety-belt pretensioners; passenger seat sensing; crash severity sensing.
• Available High Intensity Discharge headlamps.
• 18-inch wheel offering on V-6 coupe.

Ford Mustang convertibledefines top-down motoring in America. Some 980,478 examples hit the road from 1964 through 2002, and you can still see some of the 145,231 first-generation (’64-’66) cars cruising the streets near any high school as if the ’60s had never ended.With its classic proportions, muscle-bound skin, and flashy interior trim, the Mustang convertible is a visual trip right back to that first decade. It looks just as good as the coupe. Many of us have run our mouths about the retro obsession of J Mays, Ford’s styling director, but we have to thank him for the Mustang, which is retro done right.
 
 Of course, every previous Mustang convertible has been a terrible lash-up under the skin. In contrast, electronic CAD/CAM design has helped provide lightweight, elegant solutions to give structural integrity to this topless 3614-pound car. There’s a triangular brace between the B-pillars, a brace across the top of the front subframe, and heavier-gauge steel in the rocker panels. The new convertible is twice as rigid in torsion as last year’s version (although only half as stiff as the new coupe).
 
 It makes for a driving experience that’s just as good as this car looks. When you bend the Mustang GT convertible into a corner, it takes a set quickly, unlike the previous-generation car, which feels like an old, creaky sailing ship in comparison. Broken pavement will shake the new convertible’s steering wheel and windshield header, but these motions are damped out quickly. Just like the coupe, the convertible works its front tires effectively, and the steering delivers quick, linear action. The convertible also rides well on the Mustang’s four-link, live-axle rear suspension with its low-pressure, gas-charged Tokico dampers. Drive this car at a swift but relaxed pace, and it’s fine; if you want real hard-bitten cornering dynamics, you’ll start by fitting bigger tires than the GT’s 235/55WR-17s.
 
 As convertibles go, this should be an easy car to live with through all four seasons. The electrically powered top has special features to seal out both the weather and wind noise. More important, the Z-fold top folds back into a low, tight stack. The trunk is big (though the rear seat no longer folds forward). The backrest of the rear seatback maintains the same angle as that of the coupe, but a loss of shoulder room means this is a more intimate two-plus-two.
 
 As before the Ford Mustang convertiblewill cost three or four grand more than a coupe, and it will make up an astonishing 30 percent of overall Mustang production. You should be seeing this car driven around high-school campuses for generations to come.
